TIME TO CELEBRATE

I wait eagerly to celebrate Christmas the day on which Jesus Christ was born. We hang a star during the month of December. I enjoy singing Christmas carols with my family and friends. I love to hang gifts in the Christmas tree for my relatives. My mother will make delicious cakes for Christmas. My favourite is the plum cake. Santa clause will come and keep gifts on our bed on Christmas Eve.

Diwali is a festival of lights. My grandmother has told me the story of Naragasura and how Lord Krishna killed him. My mother and grandmother will prepare many sweets for Diwali. I will share it with my friends and neighbours. I am scared of crackers, but my brother and father will burst crackers. I love to go out shopping to buy new dress for Diwali. Diwali is a time to celebrate.

Of all the festivals, I love to celebrate Pongal, which is the harvest festival. I go to my grandparents house in our village to celebrate Pongal. My grandmother will prepare Pongal in a mud pot and we all will pray to Sun God. I love the fresh sugarcanes in my grandfather’s farm.

On MattuPongal Day we give bath to the cows and give them Pongal, tie bells to their horns and in the evening we all will go for a ride in the bullock cart.
