MEMORIES IN MY SCRAPBOOK
I opened my cupboard and found an old book which was in a very pathetic condition. I dusted it and read out the title on the first page, “Scrapbook memories of two best friends!” with a heart symbol next to that, the next page started with how the two best friends met and the memories began to flow in my mind.
It was in my 9th std when we met. She was my lunch mate in my CCA music class. We became close then. It all started with a conversation about Carnatic music with which we both weren’t fond of. Our likes and dislikes were similar. She is so funny. Whenever I am with her I will be the most happiest person and the most enthusiastic spectator to her sarcasm. We used to hang out a lot after we became very close. I remember when I surprised her on her last birthday. Which was the best memory with her forever. The last page of the scrapbook is filled with all these memories and some precious moments captured. And that was the last time I ever saw her completely happy around me. Some few memories are remembered with a yearning in heart. Not that she left me, but our friendship is drifted away. Now she is studying in another school. We still have small conversations over phone which are usually formal.
The scrapbook filled with our reminiscence made me feel elated and at the same time a longing in my heart for her love and affection. I closed my scrapbook and wiped out my tears and kept the book back in the cupboard, cherishing all the memories we had.
Cherishing the memories captured are the greatest gifts ever in life.
