ANNUAL REPORT 2019-2020

Scouting achieves its purpose of helping young people develop physically, intellectually, socially, and spiritually. Scouting is all about building confidence and self-esteem, learning important life skills ,leadership skills, team building, outdoor adventure, education and fun! Young people need to serve. The level of community service is a good indication of the health of any society. Scouting has, from its inception, been deeply rooted in the concept of doing for others. “Do  a  Good Turn Daily” is a core Scouting precept. Scouting encourages young people to recognize the needs of others and take actions accordingly.

Scouts and Guides, Cubs and Bulbuls and Bunny activities for the year 2019-2020:-

The year commenced with the Unit Leaders meeting from the Group of Schools along with the GROUP LEADERS to plan for the years’ programme. The Troop members and the Unit Leaders participated in the ALL FAITH PRAYER in their respective schools .

Every Monday and Wednesday, all the members gather for the Troop & Company Meeting and the Pack and the Flock Meeting in their respective schools.

On 26.06.2019 ,an Executive meeting was organized by the Chengalpattu district at Govt .Hr.Sec School,East Tambaram,Our Unit Leaders Mrs.Chandramala,Mr.K.V.Bakthavatchalu,Mrs.Nithya and Mrs.Banurekha participated in the same.

On 3.07.2019,A Refresher course was conducted by the District at the Govt .Hr.Sec School,East Tambaram.Our Unit Leaders Mrs.Lakshmi , Mrs.Priya ,Mrs.Arul Mary and Mrs.SumathyMurugan attended the course. On the same day, a General Body Meeting was held, which was attended by our Unit Leaders.

Rajyapuraskar Award Pre test camp was held on 11th and 12th of July 2019 at Govt .Hr.Sec School,Old Perungalathur.

On 17th July 2019,Ambulance and Ambulance man badge training course was conducted by the District for the Scouts and Guides who would be appearing for the Rajyapuraskar Award test camp,Our Scouts and Guides attended the training camp at J.G.National Hr.Sec School,East Tambaram.

Rajyapuraskar Award test camp was held from 29-07-2019 to 1-08-2019 for Guides and 2-08-2019 to 5-08-2019 for Scouts at Govt .Hr.Sec School,Old Perungalathur. Our Scouts and Guides were tested in various topics like:Pioneering projects,Estimation,First-aid,Compass and they also took up the written test.

Our Scouts and Guides attended the Independence Day Rally at the State Head Quarters on 15-08-2019.

All Faith Prayer was conducted by Scouts and Guides in the respective Schools in the I term before the commencement of the exam.

Camporee was organized by the BHARAT SCOUTS AND GUIDES , TAMILNADU AT A.M JAIN College,Meenambakkam, Chennai from 27th to 31st  August 2019. Scouts and Guides from various Districts took part.In the Camporee, Our Troop members had a chance to participate along with the District for the camp .The members are as follows :

Investiture ceremony was conducted for the new recruits who joined this year in the Scouts and Guides movement.

On Aug 31st 2019, the Group of Schools together had the investiture ceremony. Our Scout Masters and Guide Captains took the promise and invested the new recruits and the Group leader honoured them with the scarf.

In Sep 2019 ,Cubs and BulBuls had investiture ceremony in the respective schools, the Cub masters and the Flock Leaders took the promise and invested the new recruits and the Group leader honoured them with the  scarf.

On 26th September 2019,Rajyapuraskar Award Rally was conducted by the State Head Quarters ,Tamilnadu at Raj Bhavan;Four members took part in the Rally.

honoured the Governor  with the VIP call and the color party lead the dignitaries to the stage.

In the month of SEP 2019,a Refresher course was conducted by the Pallava mandalam District at Zion International Public School .Our Unit Leaders Mrs.Nithya, Mrs.Aparna and Mr.K.V.Bakthavatchalu , attended the meeting and on the same day a General Body Meeting was also held.

On 27TH & 28TH  of September 2019 quarterly camp was held at NSN Mat Hr Sec School Chitlapakkam for the Scouts and Guides and Cubs and Bulbuls activities were conducted.The story of Mowgli  and Tara story was told  by Mr.Karunakaran and the cubs and bulbuls were asked to enact the story in the Red flower.Many games were conducted .They also had session with knots and B.P.exercises.

Scouts and Guides session commenced with the Pravesh.Basic Knots were practiced, first-aid session was given by Mr.Sudarsan  and pioneering projects were taught by Mr.Thirugnanamurthy.The overall programme was organized by the unit leaders.

Tirtiya Sopan test camp was held on 14th &15th October 2019 at Govt .Hr.Sec School,Old Perungalathur for the St.Thomas Mount District and  on 23rd and 24th Oct 2019 at Loyola Academy for the Pallava Mandalam District.

Training camp for the Basic and Advance course was organized by the St.Thomas Mount District Mr.Antony Packiaraj and Ms.Arul Mary attended the camp at Govt .Hr. Sec School, Old Perungalathur from 14th to 20th Dec 2019.

The Overnight camp was held at NSN MHSS ,Chitlapakkam on 23rd and 24th 2019  Cubs,Bulbuls,Scouts and Guides took part in the camp, and celebrated Christmas and New Year by cutting a cake. All Faith Prayer was conducted in the morning ,followed by the Temple visit to Lakshmi kubera temple at karapakkam.

Young people need to know how to be good and how to do good. Few will argue with the importance of teaching values and responsibility to our children – not only right from wrong, but specific, affirmative values such as fairness, courage, honor, and respect for others. Beginning with the Scout Oath and Scout Law, the Boy Scouts of America program is infused with character-building activities that allow youth to apply abstract principles to daily living situations.Young people need faith. There is abundant evidence that children benefit from the moral compass provided by religious tradition. We acknowledge that faith can become an important part of a child’s identity. Each of the major faiths breed hope, optimism, compassion, and a belief in a better tomorrow. Scouting encourages each young person to begin a spiritual journey through the practice of his or her faith in tradition. One of the key tenets of Scouting is “Duty to God.” While Scouting does not define religious belief for its members, it has been adopted by and works with youth programs of all major faiths.

Scouting fosters the personality development of the students and helps them unviable a sense of social responsibility.  They become disciplined and courageous and are in the forefront during critical times.

The Scouts and Guides programmes for the academic year 2018-19 started from the third week of June. The first meeting for the Scouts and Guides Group commenced on 13/6/2018.

JUNE 2018

13/06/2018 S. Jessica Gerard of Std XI A, from Chromepet School, received the Rajyapuraskhar Certificate on behalf of Chengalpet District from the Governor Mr. Banwarilal Purohit at Raj Bhavan.

17/06/2018 First meeting for Scouts and Guides Standard VI to X commenced followed by the meeting for Senior Scouts and Guides from XI & XII, Cubs and Bulbuls (III-V) and also the Bunny Programme on 20/06/2018

Prayer means communication with almighty.  A person with faith without prayer is like a skeleton less body.  All faith prayer was conducted every tem before the commencement of the examination.

19/06/2018 A General body meeting was conducted by the Chengalpattu District at CSI. Corley Hr Sec School, East Tambaram. All the unit leaders from N.S.N Group of Schools participated in the meeting.

23/06/2018 As a part of Rajyapurasakar activity, Scouts and Guides visited a factory (Indira Cotton Mills at Chromepet, students really understood how the thread is made out of cotton and the value of cotton bag to be used, instead of plastic.

23/06/2018 Rashtrapathi Scouts and Guides from all three schools went for a foot hike to Skandaashram from NSN Chittlapakam.

JULY 2018

Training is the promise made by every Scouts and Guides, when they join Scouting.

07/07/2018 Rajya Puraskar Award Pre-Test camp was conducted by Chengalpattu District at Govt. Hr Sec School, Old Perangalathur.  In that camp from NSN Group of Schools  61 Scouts and 22 Guides participated and gained extra information from various various subjects.

Rajya Puraskar Test Camp was held at Old Perungalathur Govt Hr. Sec School conducted by Chengalpattu District as per the schedule dates given below:

SEPTEMBER 2018

06/09/2018 Passing out Parade (POP) at Officers Training Academy invited our NSN Scouts and Guides and Band Troop to witness the parade Around 80 students of our NSN Group of Schools attended the parade and learned the value of discipline of marching and other aspects of training.

22/09/2018 to 23/09/2018 An overnight camp was conducted for our Cubs and Bulbuls at Ellen Sharma Camping Centre, Sholinganallur.

23/09/2018 to 26/09/2108 3 Nights camp was conducted for Scouts and Guides of Std VI to X at Ellen Sharma Camping Centre, Sholinganallur.

During the camp Cubs and Bulbuls, Scouts and Guides went for a hike to Prathiyangira Devi Temple by walk.

29/09/2018 to 02/10/2018 (3) Nights camp was conducted for our Senior Scouts and Guides Std XI & XII at NSN School Campus, Chitlapakkam.

During the Camp Scouts and Guides went for hike a visit to Kala Bhairava and Siva Temple at Chengalpattu.

Disaster Management and First Aid Classes were conducted by Mr. Elangovan, Retired Thasildar.  Scouts and Guides learned the importance of how to act at the time of disaster happenings.

Pioneering session was conducted by Mr. Thirugnanamoorthy

23/12/2018 & 24/12/2018 Half yearly camp was conducted at NSN  School Campus for Cubs and Bulbuls and Scouts and Guides .During the Camp various activity and games was conducted for Cubs and Bulbuls  by Mr. Karunagaran,  for Scouts and Guides Estimating and Mapping session was conducted by Mr. Thirugnanamoorthy.

30/12/2018 Sri Madha Dakshinamoorthy Homam was conducted by Trustees of V.S. Mahal.  In this our Scouts and Guides volunteered and done a excellent service throughout the function.

JANUARY 2019

26/01/2019 Republic Day Parade was held on 26th January at Marina Beach NSN Scouts and Guides Group and Band Troop participated in the parade where our Hon’ble Governor Mr. Banwarilal Purohit, received the salute.  It is a matter of great pride and honor that our school participated in Republic Day Parade year after year.

My Country before myself should be your aim: Founder Baden Powell said,

      “The greatest contribution to education in the 20th century was

         made not by an Educationist, but by a Soldier who found

                                  the Scout and Guides”

The activities of Scouts and Guides and Cubs and Bulbul movement for the academic year 2017-18 started from the third week of June. The first meeting for Scouts and Guides commenced on 19-06-17 followed by the meeting for Cubs and Bulbuls on 21-06-17.

  • Prayer means communication with God. A person with faith without prayer is like a skeleton less body. All faith prayer is conducted every term before the exams.
  • On June 20th – a General body meeting was conducted by the Chengalpattu District at Jaigopal Garodia National Higher Secondary School, East Tambaram. All the Unit Leaders from N.S.N Group of schools participated in the meeting.
  • Training is the promise made to the Scouts and Guides when they join scouting.

From: June: 30-06-17 to 01-07-17 ,The Rajyapuraskar preparatory test camp was held at Government High School, Old Perungalathur 40 Scouts and 27 Guides attended the camp.

  • On July 5th ,a one day Refresher course was conducted by the Leader trainers of Chengalpattu District at C.S.I Corely Higher Secondary School. Our unit leader also attended the meeting to develop and strengthen our unit.
  • From July 19-07-17 to 23-07-17 ,the Rajyapursakar Award Test camp was conducted for Scouts and Guides at Government Higher Secondary School, Old Perungalathur in which NSN Scouts and Guides groups participated.

  • On August .D. Banurekha received the Himalayan Wood Badge Beads and Certificate at the State Head Quarters.
  • On 15th August, Independence Day was celebrated at the Sate headquarters .Our NSN Group also proudly took part in the rally.

 

  • The Investiture ceremony is the beginning of a special time in a young person’s life. At the ceremony, the Scouts/ Guides make the promise to the Scout Master/Guide Captain and to all Scouts of the world that he is a Scout. On 21st and 23rd of August The Investiture Ceremony was conducted for the New Recruits of Scouts and Guides, Cubs and Bulbuls. The ceremony was presided by the

Vice Principals of respective schools, who blessed the students.

  • Scouting means Outing, on September 23rd and 24th a two nights camp was conducted for the Cubs and Bulbuls and the Scouts and Guides at Ellen Sharma Camp site at Shollinganallur. From 24th to 27th, a three night camp was conducted for the Scouts and Guides at Don- Bosco Pannur.

                             “BE PREPARED” is the motto of the Scouts.

  • Troop meeting and test was conducted to offer information & knowledge based on outdoor adventures.
  • From 15th of October 2017, a Preparatory Test Camp for The Rashtrapati Scout Award was held at Government Higher Secondary School, Old Perungalathur.Nearly 19 Scouts participated and gained knowledge.
  • The Investiture ceremony for the new recruits of Scouts and Guides, Cubs and Bulbuls was conducted on 21st August and 23rd August 2017 respectively.
  • Rashtrapati Award Test Camp was held from October 21st to 25th 2017 at Seshan Chavadi, Salem District. Nearly 19 Scouts participated and successfully completed the test.

  • In the month of November, The Kancheepuram and Chengalpet Districts jointly organized a one day Refresher Course for all the Unit Leaders. Mr. C. L. Harish Metha.The State Commissioner visited and blessed the all Unit Leaders.
  • On 23rd and 24th November 2017, the Tritiya Sopan Test Camp was conducted by the Chengalpattu District to prepare the Scouts and Guides for Rajyapuraskar Test for the academic year 2018.
  • From December 26th to 28th 2017, a Preparatory Test Camp was conducted for the Rashtrapathi Guides at NSN School Campus. Mr. Elangovan. Retd. Thasildar and Rashtrapathi Rover, conducted a programme on Disaster Management and Mr. Thirugnana Murthy conducted a  session on Pioneering and First Aid  for the Guides, Our sincere thanks to the both the trainers for preparing and guiding them.
  • From January 2nd to 8th 2018, The Rashtrapati Testing Camp was held at Salem Seshan Chavadi, Salem District. Nearly 29 Guides from Chengalpatu District participated and successfully completed the test.

  • The Republic Day Parade was held on 26th January, at Marina Beach.Our NSN Scouts and Guides Group and Band Troop participated in the Parade where our Honorable Governor, Banwarilal Purohit received the salute. It’s a matter of great pride and honour that our School participated in the Parade.
  • On February 9th,   the Ambulance Badge Certificate Course for Rajayapuraskar Scouts and Guides was held at Christ King Girl’s Higher Secondary School, East Tambaram.
  • On February 22nd   to commemorate the Founder’s Day, Thinking Day Rally, was celebrated by the Chengalpattu District at the Govt.Hr.Sec.School at Old Perungalathur.

An invaluable step in character training is to put responsibility on the individual . It is indeed a matter of immense pleasure to pen down the  annual report show casing the activities of the Scouts and Guides Movement for the academic year 2016-2017.

“Teach Scouts and Guides not how to get a living but how to live,” goes the saying.The activities of the Scouts and Guides commenced on 20-06-2016 , followed by the  Cubs and Bulbuls on 22-06-2016

Our Unit leaders attended the Chengalpattu Districts’  Executive meeting at Christ King Mat Hr Sec School ,Tambaram on 10th June 2016.

On 16-06-2016  General body meeting of Chenglepattu District for the year 2016 -2017 was held at JaigopalGarodia Mat Hr Sec School,East Tambaram which was attended by the unit leaders from various sections of  NSN Group of Schools.

Training is the promise made to the  Scouts and Guides when they  join scouting. On 23rd and 24th of June 2016 , the District conducted  the Rajyapuraskar award  pre-test camp at the Govt Hr Sec School,Old Perungalathur.As many as 103 Scouts and Guides from NSN Group of schools took up the test(58 Scouts and 45 Guides).

The State Examiners ,further conducted test camp at Govt Hr Sec School,Old Perungalathur, between 15 -7-2016 and 17-07-2016 .58 Scouts and 45 Guides took up the test.

On 9-8 2016 our unit leaders participated in the Refresher course conducted by the District.

Scouting isn’t just about earning badges and recognition .It encourages the  youth to become responsible,participating citizens and leaders who are guided by the values of  the Scout Oath and law.It was a moment of pride  for our Scouts and Guides to have participated with the Unit Leaders in the Independence day Flag Hoisting at State Head Quarters,Wenlock park,Chennai.

From 16th  to 22nd  Sep 2016 ,assisted  by our Unit Leaders , the Chengalpattu District conducted Training Course for ScoutMasters and Guide Captain.

The real way to gain happiness is to give it to others ,Learning by doing is the hallmark of the scouting programme.Investiture ceremony for Scouts and Guides was held on 17-10-2016  and  for Cubs and Bulbuls on 19-10-2016 in their respective Schools.The Correspondent/Group leader,Principals and Vice-Principals blessed the new recruits after the ceremony.

Troop meetings and tests offer information and knowledge based on outdoor adventures .Rashtrapati Award pre-test Camp was conducted at SethuBaskara Mat Hr Sec School,Puthur near Ambathur on 4-11-16 and 5-11-16 . Followed by the test camp for Scouts and Guides  held in the Salem District at the training centre in Sesanchavadi . The Guides completed the test from 16th to 20th November 2016 and Scouts from 5th to 9th Dec 2016 successfully.

Dedicated staff and top notch programmes provide the scouts with the pinnacle of the scouting experience.Mrs.D.Banurekha ,Lady scout Master successfully completed the Himalayan wood badge course at Stanley Park,Conoor,from 25thNov to 1stDec 2016.

Rajyapuraskar Scouts and Guides attended the training at N.S.N Chitlapakkam Campus on 27th and 28th Dec 2016.
