WHEN YOU HAD A BRAVE SMILE ON YOUR FACE?

When I was four, I staged my first classical dance performance in a nearby temple. I often imagine that day even now. That day was a memorable day. All were dancing correct and perfect. But I was the opposite that day. My senior stood before the stage in a crowd and helped me by guiding with actions. My father was so anxious that he was eager to come and pull me out of the stage since he understood my problem that day. But he was controlled by my mom. Even when my senior helped me, I was doing the reversal actions for instance, if she does the right I was doing with left. The program ended and I started crying. That day, my teacher told my parents that one day I will be appreciated by everyone in the crowd.

But now, when I give each performance in a sabha or stage, I ensure to make the audience happy. In each of my performances, I had a broad smile. Once after a performance, the whole crowd stood up and gave me a standing ovation. My mom and dad cried out of joy. The whole crowd surrounded me and applauded me. Then they moved to my parents. And that was my arangetram, a constant hard work of two years. Even now, whenever I make my parents feel proud, I have a broad smile on my face.

It was in August 2015. This day was a memorable day for me. This was my ARANGETRAM day. First, when my parents enrolled me in dance class, I felt lazy to go there. Every Sunday I used to tell some excuses for not going there. But, my mom’s dream was to make me a good classical dancer as she was not able to achieve it. The same way, my father was also keenly interested in dance. Then, as I grew older, I myself fell in love with dance. As the days passed on, I compelled my parents to take me to dance class whenever I was free. At this moment, I would like to thank my GURU for all that she had done to me. Then on, I started to work so hard inspite of my studies. After 5 years of practice, I had my Salangai Pooja. This was my first stepping stone to success. I tried my level best to make my parents feel proud. The same way, the performance which I gave was liked by my parents and I got applause from the audience.

As the second step towards success, I started to practice for my Arangetram. Next 3 years, I worked very hard by practicing dance day and night. Within these few years, I learnt nearly 60-70 songs. I felt really astonished. My Arangetram day was nearing and I became little tensed. But, it was my parents and my guru who increased confidence within me. I felt that I should make my parents feel proud this time also. The day arrived. I was on the stage and was about to start my performance and somehow the performance ended with lot of applauses and praises. The chief guests appreciated me for my great work. My parents said to me that “you made our day” When I heard this, I was really excited and on this day I had a brave smile on my face. This would remain evergreen in my mind. I achieved something great and was awarded “NATYAKALA MAYURI” award by my guru. This was my lifetime achievement. I realized that,

Last Year, I and my team mates had gone for an inter–school basket ball tournament at Gurukullam School at Tambaram, Chennai. The first match for us was between Elen Sharma a great basket ball team in our zone. So, we were getting ready for the match. We lost the match and felt ashamed of meeting our coach’s face. So, we quietly left the ground. The next match for us was announced. It was held at HLC International School. We were in a group with chettinad and elen Sharma. It was a league match where we had to win over any one of the teams. We lost the first match with Chettinad and we had to win the second match for getting qualified. But we had lost that match also. So we worked hard for defeating both the teams. This year the same HLC School opened up the tournament again. This time we had a lot of confidence and defeated both the teams and broke the record. That was when I HAD A BRAVE SMILE ON MY FACE.
